Another Tyson Jackson type
I think sam has much more talent. Jackson was such a massive "WTF????" top 3 pick, its unfair to even call him a bust.

Last year sportswriters were saying that someone was deliberately trying to manipulate the draft by releasing Mo Claibornes poor test score to the media in hopes it cause him to fall; maybe this is one of those scenarios. Didn't work with Mo.

holy shite, how many times is this thing going to be posted. It was from the summer 2012 for missing a class or a workout. That's it. It changes every week. It's motivation, not an indictment on the work ethic of the players on the list.
Jarret Lee and Demetirus Byrd both ended up on the list at one point and I don't think it affected them in anyway professionally.

the draft-niks will do anything to drag a player down or push a player up.
happens every year. It's like they are trying to make a name for themselves.
I would think the LSU coaches are honest with the NFL peeps. But I don't think the NFL peeps go back to writers and tell them what coaches say, not in this case anyway

If a player consistently misses work outs, is regularly late to team activities and has a tendency to loaf and not be a good example to the younger guys... I have no problem with any coach, especially an assistant or say Moffitt, telling it like it is to a NFL scout.
So you are implying this is the case with SM99?
He consistently missed workouts, was regularly late to team meetings, he was a loaf, and wasn't a good example to the younger players...
SMH.
Our fanbase can't even get behind one of our favorite players to support him when people outside the program are trying to poke holes in his integrity as a player. It's amazing any top talent wants to play for us, tbh.
I for one think SM99 set a good example. He was a catalyst for our team this year and had the swag that we needed when the tough part of the schedule hit. He played his arse off all year, was named SEC defensive linemen of the week twice and was a projected 1st round pick until we had our late minute flubs against Bama and Clemson. He was the most colorful personality on the team and was as intense as you could be on game day. He was a great player who was All-SEC and All-American and did all of it after coming back from a season-ending knee injury in 2010. You can't come back from those types of injuries to be one of the best in the country if you aren't putting in the work. Just getting back on the field takes a lot and he not only did that, but was a premiere DE in the the NCAA.

It's possible that they are talking down Sam, but I highly doubt it. Odds are, this hack is trying to garner national publicity, and he saw that workout note from months ago for the first time (with no knowledge of what it meant, apparently like much of the rant) and just decided to run with that.
Unfortunately, this is the way media personalities become popular. Sure, there are a few who raise the ranks with genuinely good reporting, but for the majority, the only chance they have to become famous is to find a way to create buzz around themselves. Even if that means stretching any hint of a story to its most extreme scenario.
I guess it's possible that what he is saying is 100% true, but until some more info comes out, I'm going to assume this is just a hack writer trying to get his own name out there.

According to NFL Draft insider Tony Pauline, LSU's coaches are not giving LSU DE Sam Montgomery a "ringing endorsement" to NFL teams.
College coaches -- especially assistants -- are typically brutally honest with NFL clubs, and it was no secret that Montgomery wasn't beloved by LSU's staff. A projected second-day draft pick, Montgomery is a base 4-3 end. His Tigers bookend, Barkevious Mingo, is expected to be a 3-4 outside 'backer in the pros.
I haven't seen a "link" to this report, so why is this thread not deleted!!

This is spot on... Anyone who thinks otherwise is a dumbarse. One of my fav tigers of all time. His intensity and emotional presence will be missed.

bullshite. If LSU coaches are saying Sam was an underachiever than they'd be killing Mingo.

WTF is his agenda in this? - Gray Tiger
No agenda. And no, I haven't posted under any other name, handle, login, etc. If you notice from the tone of my original post, I thought it was clear I was asking what might be behind this b/c I 'missed' whatever spurred that. I'd never heard a single negative word about 99. In fact, heard the contrary. Hence my question on where it might have come from.

This is where I actually saw it. A site used for fantasy football but covers the draft as well.

Think I'll start calling myself a Draft Insider. My first article will be: "Barrett Jones Looks To Restore Order To the Sixth Round."
