We have some friends staying in St Martinville whom we are trying to meet up with Friday for dinner. We are staying in Youngsville.
Have recommendation of Poor Boy's and also Nash's which I know is more upscale. Anyone have any info on these ?
Also, I remember Randol's and Charlie G's being good places that also had music. Are these places still any good ?
Thanks in advance !

I've eaten at Poor Boy's Riverside twice in the last month. Very good both times. Had the Extravaganza with Redfish(Redfish topped with crawfish, lump crabmeat, and grilled mushrooms). Excellent!

I love Poor Boys. I haven't been to Nash's in a few years. It was very good when I was there, but some folks here didn't rave about it the last several times it was mentioned. I'd go back, though.
I haven't been to Charlie G's in a while, but it usually gets good recommendations.
I'm probably one of the few people on here who goes to Randol's. Everyone else says it's too touristy and the like. I doubt many of them have been there or been there any time recently. I happen to enjoy the music and watching the locals doing the Cajun 2 step. My food has always been good. They added some things a few years ago. There was a good shrimp app with a slaw similar to Zea. The gumbo is good. They do a fine job on the fried foods. I've never ordered the boiled seafood, but it always looks good. Soft shell crab there was very good.

Poor Boy's is great. The House Salad is wonderful. I've never had a bad meal there.
The times I've been to Nash's have been in large groups for specific meetings so don't know about regular meals. What I had there was good.
Charley G's is always solid. Limited menu but I don't think I've ever been there when they've had music.
Randol's is good (my wife loves the boiled crabs) and the music is LOUD.

Riverside is unbelievably good. The atmosphere is definitely catered to the 80yr old mom and pop, but food is incredible.

Thanks for the comments ! I have eaten at all of those places but Poor Boys but it has been 10-15 years so I didn't know how much they have changed, if at all. Our friends are touring the St Martinville-Avery Island area just to get a taste of the culture. They grew up in BR but have lived in San Francisco for many years. We'll pass along these req's and I'll post a review next week of wherever we decide to go.

Take 'em to Richard's Seafood Patio around Abbeville. That'll show them some culture.

make sure they check out The Alligator Bar while they are in St Martinville. It's a cool , very eclectic bar that serves original Sazeracs and has a great bourbon and scotch collection......pretty good food, too
