It happens all the time chief. After the established experienced guy leaves then that leaves you with a guy with no significant playing time and average from most accounts QBs, competing with the star or stars just brought in a year ago or even true freshmen. I'd love a freshman ready to take the reigns like Manziel, Colt McCoy, Danny O'Brien, RG3, Chad Henne etc.

Not "all the time." But I see your point. My issue is posters saying that Rivers is not any good at all. Kid hasn't been on the field to justify that comment. Unless you're at practice, no one here knows how good or bad Rivers is on the field. He's obviously go the size and from what I've seen, he's got decent arm strength. The only thing that we don't know is what is above the shoulders.

All exceptions, not the rules. I'm sure every team/coach/fan in the country would like a freshman QB to play like those guys did, but 98% of the time, they don't and they won't.

Prom I've been to dozen or so practices and every scrimmage he's had since he stepped foot on campus. If he does not improve dramaticly in his accuracy and feel for the game, he has little chance to play. I can see them trotting him out there opening day of 2014,but he will have a short leash. Cam may be the best thing to ever happen to the kid,the light may go on........
