The possibilities are endless.. (Draft picks)

So Dion Jordan is obviously a popular pick at 15, but I would like to open up some thought a little outside the box..
How would the rest of who dat nation feel about trading back a few spots in the first to grab a guy like Jenkins at DT and pick up a 2nd or another 3rd rounder. Could go after a pass rusher like Lemonier or Chase Thomas and grab the best available OT.
Again, I know this wouldn't be a popular situation, but just a thought to ponder/debate/or just completely thrash!

and actually, I'd like Dion Jordan at #15. Good pick

This is where I would actually like to start unloading some guys. See if we can get anything for players like Will Smith and Chris Ivory. Even if it's 4th to 7th round choices, I say why not. As for the 1st round, it really depends on how the QB's grade and who falls. If Joeckel, Fisher, nor any of the elite pass rushers fall, sure trade back then in my opinion.

I feel like people only like Jordan because mock drafts are projecting him to Saints and saying we should like him. I follow college football pretty closely and didn't really hear anything about this guy until after the season ended.

Yeah I never heard a peep about the guy during the season either.. Apparently he is super athletic and long, with major upside... Just curious if the saints really want to take a chance on such a raw talent when this draft (more particularly this first pick) is so crucial after last years draft, or lack thereof.
We NEED some great picks!

If we trade back I would like Vacarro.
Just sayin
Just sayin

You shouldn't feel bad about saying that. I would also like Vacarro.

Just watched some of Vacarro's highlights again.. Definitely has some talent to drool over at the safety spot! Is it worth drafting safety with first pick and cutting/trading Harper? Or take a bigger need, and restructure Harper to see how well he plays in this defense that basically calls for what he does best

a coupla things on trading back-
1. First it has to be if who is on the board doesn't match up to your value estimates
2. Ya gotta have a trade partner. Sometimes you can be in prime position (say for a QB this year) or no one really wants to jump up for a particular player at your spot.
3. There must be a good outlook as to who you might get later. Sam Montgomery may not be THE perfect 3-4OB you were shooting for. But who might project into the range of the pick you get? Would you prefer trading and hope to kill 2 birds with one stone? Say NT Jenkins, as mentioned, then Alex Okafor with a 2nd picked up?
Trades are fun to speculate but so many factors go into it that I don't think it's worth our time or effort.
Question: Has Loomis ever traded back in a draft?
Finally, please anyone speculating trades please use the draft pick value chart
Another cool tool is a draft pick calculator
PS- NO team is giving anything for Will Smith, Vilma, Harper, etc. If we are talkin players potentially to be cut why would any team give anything? Well maybe a Jonathan Amaya & a 6th rder- at best. (I still think that is one of the alltime best from Loomis)

dude NOBODY is going to give us anything for Will Smith and what he is on the hook for this last season.
You MAY get a 7th rounder for Ivory

I'd go 6th for Ivory. Maybe even a 5th in the right situation.

I wonder if we could package Ivory, Will Smith and a future pick, maybe a 6th or 7th next year just for the opportunity to dump Smith and his bogus salary and most of his cap hit for this year?

That really is cringe worthy isn't it? The only problem I've ever had with the magician "Loomis" is Smith, Grant and Harper's contracts.
But as much as I hate to admit it, I loved them when they were signed. Except for Harper's, that is. I always felt Williams was the mastermind behind that one though.

At the time I thought it was too much push for Grant and Smith. Harper had good luck/timing in that it was a very weak free agent market and not strong draft class at the same time.
The Saints openly have tried to mimic the Pats in many ways. Where they have fallen short most might be this Belichick axiom: Better to let them go one contract too early than to keep them one contract too long.
