Wow. That took some real guts.

I would probably hit it and I'm thankful for his goal against Mexico but I'm glad that I'll never have to watch him dribble out of bounds again.

At the end of Rogers' loan agreement at Stevenage, he briefly returned to Leeds before it was announced he had left the club by mutual consent. On February 15, 2013, Rogers announced on his blog that he was gay and also that he was quitting soccer at age 25.[3]

It's a shame he has to retire at such a young age, but it's his life...

I don't think he's retiring because he's gay but more because he sucks.

Grant Wahl tweeted that Robbie used "stepping away" instead of "retiring", so he might still have a future in the game.
I think he'd be decent back in MLS.

i was excited when leeds signed him not just because he is american but we desperately needed some wingers. guy got physically destroyed in the 'ship. also didn't quite fit into warnock's plans. seems like a good guy though.

I'm interested to see how the USNT players react.

Sacha Kljestan already supported him as did former player Eddie Pope.

Happy I didn't buy a Rogers Leeds jersey when they were on sale over the winter.

I didn't see those, but I was mostly just looking for an excuse to post that
Predictably, this is becoming a very big story:
The Guardian
Marca

Apparently he accepted a job with the UK edition of Men's Health magazine.
Good to see the positive support on Twitter for Rogers. I always thought he was a bit smug and immature when he was with Columbus and on the fringes of the national team. I can semi-understand now why he had a few falling outs with teammates and coaches with all of his internal strife.
