F*ck 20 years, I'm 45 and I've been watching TOS since it was called Star Trek and everybody knew what you meant then - that and the animated series TAS

that's probably why I'm 100% behind what Abrams did.. where do you even go after 20 plus years of nostalgia than starting over? Eh, you might alienate the old fanbase, but those people that have been watching it for 20+ years? De old, de gunna die soon, start over, you will probably still get most of them, but most importantly - you will get new people.
