Why are there 5 threads on the first page about Cam? People are already crying about this hire. Fn rant. Of course some people in BAL aren't going to have glowing reviews, he was just fired from there.

Exactly. The folks in Miami just LOVED Nick Saban.

Because everyone has been wanting a new OC for two years now and we finally hired one?

People on here cry and bitch about anything. It doesn't matter to the Rant. It isn't ever good enough.

Chavis was fired from Tennessee also! And the Tennessee fans were on his back before the firing. One of the best things that has ever happened to LSU!
Cam Cameron hiring = Chavis hiring
A homerun and the baseball season hasn't even started!

The three most impactful hires since the 2007 season are the following:
1.) Nick Saban at Bama.
2.) Kevin Sumlin at A&M.
3.) Chavis at LSU.
Seriously, next to two very good head coaches, our DC was a monumental hire that's basically carried this program while our offense swooned and flagged seriously and demonstrably over the course of the past 3-4 years.
Something tells me Cameron is going to be a flat-out amazing hire.

First of all, in the last year I have done as much griping about our offense as anybody. I don't think anyone would call me a sunshine pumper. But this griping about the Cam Cameron hire is ridiculous. So what if the people in Baltimore don't think super highly of Cam? As another poster pointed out, how did the folks in Miami feel about Nick Saban when he was hired by Alabama? I don't think Bama has let what the Miami people think slow them down one bit.
People on here have griped for 3 years about the offensive coordinator, and now we go and hire a NFL coordinator with college experince and a great resume, and Tiger fans are still griping.
I would love to see some of the Tiger Rag editors, along with Derek Ponamsky, and Matt Moscona's resumes and who would hire them outside of local Baton Rouge media, which is basically the equivilant in the coaching universe as a Junior High position.

For what?
Having one good season in which his true freshman QB played lights out and won the Heisman trophy? Maybe let him have a couple more winning seasons before we give him Knute Rockne status.

I've been following the guy for a long time. His ability to validate the Spread Air-Raid in the SEC-for the 2nd time, since Leach did so in the late 90's at UK anyway-was seriously impactful.
Up until 2012, the Spread had won titles in the SEC, but had done so using power-running and triple-option looks (Meyer @ UF). Showing that a passing-oriented Spread-based offense could succeed here was monumental IMO.
You may not believe so, but go back and look at what folks theorized for them after that 17-10 loss to UF, and even before that in the preseason. Sumlin's performance this year was bigtime.

Awesome, One good year with the best player in college football and we will crown him!!
Make no mistake A&M - Manziel they lose 4-5 games..

Score was 20-17, just pointing out.

Would his performance have been big time if he had lost to Bama? Yeah he did good in his first year in the SEC. However, they are losing a shite ton of talent on the offensive side of the ball. 2013 may not be quite as good of a year for them as 2012 was. Their OOC schedule is easier than a typical D2 schedule, so they will rack up some wins, but I don't think they are going to win the SEC West this year or anything. Maybe this was a good hire in that he helped A&M not get completely embarrassed in the SEC, but I don't know about the second best hire in the nation or even the conference since 2007. A couple more dominating winning seasons will change my opinion on that though.

without Manziel A&M loses to Ole Miss and La Tech

Sumlin is 46-19 as a HC so he has had more than 1 good season.

At A&M? Read the post gump. He clearly said the hire of Sumlin at A&M. We are talking about what he did at A&M. I don't care about what he did for UH.

Sound like a fan who said Meyer would fail in SEC, or Petrino would... A good coach can win no matter the conference and Sumlin is a good coach.
