Its such BS this is even being debated. The olympics is filled with crap events and they want to get rid of one of the purest forms of competition. Not that they care or will make a differnce, but I will no longer watch the olympics.

As a lifetime member of the AAU, I'm sick about this.

The IOC is run by flaming liberals who detest anything that they perceive to be "violent, combative behavior." It's the same movement that is currently pussifying football and other sports.

I hate racewalking considering I am a huge track fan, but racewalking is covered under Athletics which means it is just a track and field event, not it's own sport.

And as for amateur vs pro, those lines could be so blurred now that an amateur athlete could probably fair just as well as common pro athletes of non-major sports. IE, Nike pumps a ton of money into the USOC or something like that and those guys get great facilities, housing, food, gear, etc. paid for and not a true paycheck.
