Disputing a charge on a credit card

So I have a charge that is pending status. I had three different charges to this particular business of which I have already paid two. I believe this third charge is erroneous.
Is calling the business and requesting them to remove the charge my only option here? How does one handle such an event otherwise? Thanks.

So you bought something for a business and there is still a pending charge? It's most likely just a hold on funds... it will never be released
You can only dispute a charge if gone through... Hope its on Amex

So it will be in the "pending" stages from henceforth?
Disputing it is out until/if it goes through? Otherwise, I have no options?

If it is pending, don't worry about it. The charge will more than likely only go through once. Places do this all the time by placing a hold on your cc. Gas stations usually have a hold for like 100 bucks when you swipe even if you only put 50 bucks in your car. I wouldn't worry.
If the charge goes through, then call your cc company.

Why don't you wait to see if it actually goes through? A lot of times companies will put multiple pending charges on, but only follow through with one.
Fwiw, if you call the company, there isn't shite they can do about it... They can refund a pending charge.

You can definitely call the business but I have "charges" pending all the time that I know will go away. Restaurants and online retailers do this the most I have noticed

Thanks thats what I was thinking. Ive just never had to deal with this before. How long do they typically remain in the pending stage? This has been 5 days.

Can certainly sit there for that long. It depends on what the charge is for. I have had ones for a hotel reservation sit there for longer than that, but it doesn't affect anything while it sits there. So no worries.
