I think Albertson's is ultimately the one that takes the beating.

For 60 days if you use the Lafayette model. Sales dropped an average of 12 % for the first 2 months Rouses opened. Sales returned + some once the honeymoon period was over.

I am pretty excited about this. I'll probably still be doing my regular shopping at Winn Dixie on Airline just because it is a little closer and just out of habit...but it will be nice to have a Rouses nearby to go pick up some specialty items.

Was there another "lesser" store nearby that lost business?

and this is what is going to happen here as well .. for all the tongue bathing that calandro's gets around here .. i am not going to drive out of my way to the one on siegen or the one on government for exotic beer .. it will be the same here .. people will break their necks to get there for the first two months, then realize it is more expensive than their favorite local grocery and that they really didn't need those four $12.99 crawfish stuffed, white wine infused mushrooms from the deli either .. they will return to their old haunts to shop eventually ..

This looks pretty accurate, I was pissed the first couple months Rouse's opened on Bertrand because of how crowded it was. Now that it's calmed down I can enjoy it a lot more.
