I would find it hard to believe that whether or not you would have accepted a new job has any bearing on whether or not you can collect an unemployment check. It is still wrongful termination to just fire someone because they put in a 2 weeks notice.

I worked for a major accounting firm in Houston and left at the end of August 2012. I put my two weeks notice in and then some stuff ending up happening so they told me to just turn my stuff in and leave. I was paid out the rest of the two weeks and was paid out my PTO balance. Think it had something to do with the fact that the two weeks notice was already in writing and that they can't just fire you at that point. I have never heard of any employer telling someone to turn their stuff in and then NOT paying them anymore just because they turned in 2 weeks notice.
