Do I need to go through a FFL to buy one online? It looks like I don't.

I don't think so. Pretty sure you can get it UPSed to your house as long as you don't ship powder

Don't think so. I got an 1851 Navy Colt without it

Check your state laws, but in most cases you don't need a FFL and can have it shipped directly to your house.
Blackpowder is fun, just remember the guns are just as dangerous as smokeless. Some people think that since they aren't federally regulated they are somehow toys. They aren't.

No. I have a .44 that maybe just one day I will try to take a deer with.

On a different note I saw today where you can ship a firearm to another individual without going through a FFL if you keep it within your state. Only need FFL if you are going across state lines. I have never really thought about it.

On a related note to the different note, you can also ship firearms to manufacturers and gunsmiths, and receive them back at your residence, without involving a FFL.

No, Cabella's shipped one to my house last month.
