Hypothetically, if you're a defensive player and you know where an offensive player is going to go, don't you think you'd have a better chance of tackling him and attempting to force a fumble than you would if you had no idea what he was going to do?

Hypothetically yes, you would know where to go to tackle him, but forcing the fumble is a whole different set of variables. Some ball carriers are very good at not fumbling, some defenders excel at forcing fumbles and vice versa.

Anything in regards to how a ball carrier carries the football could be gleaned from watching any regular game film.
