Been sailing all my life, like previously said the best way to learn is to go to the nearest yacht club and offer to crew (most people would let you on in no time) in a weekly fun race (Wednesday nights at syc and noyc for example) and you will pick stuff up fairly quickly. You will appreciate the bvi much more if you know what your doing when you get down there instead of taking a week long course. Best bet in the bvi is to get a charter for a week with a captain for the first day or two to educate you on moorings
