Bradshaw couldn't get in LSU, by his own admission. We got Bert Jones instead of Ferguson, so we were hardly hurting for QB's.

You're right. I'd forgotten about Bradshaw's academic record being so abysmal. Tech must have twisted themselves into knots justifying enrolling him there.

As to Ferguson, as you probably remember he was a much more prolific passing QB coming out of Woodlawn's pro-style than Bert Jones was running Hoss Garrett's wing-T but in truth Cholly Mack would have probably wasted his talents as he mostly did Jones' had Joe ended up in Baton Rouge..

And I'm not sure he was even the best QB on his Tech team

LSU was open admissions back then. Bradshaw could have gottn in, but he wouldn't have stayed in. He would have flunked out quickly.

Evidently Tech gave him an easier ride.
