re: What LSU Football means to me (Fairweather Fans need not Enter)

There is something special about an LSU game on a Louisiana Saturday Night and threads like this just remind me of how much I truly appreciate the experience.
I love everything about it. Crossing the border and reading "Bienvenue en Louisiane". Hearing Geaux Tigers from the second you get there until the second you leave. The heavyset black woman who will call you baby or sugar although she doesn't even know your name. The feeling that overcomes you when you wait in line before entering that stadium. Seeing the same people that I have sat to since I was 6 years old. The list goes on... It's more then just a football game. It's a way for me to spend quality time and make life long memories with people that I enjoy being around. Whether it be my dad, grandpa, son, uncle, wife, etc. I cherish all the memories. It's like hunting or fishing, but 10x better. It's a feeling you can't explain unless you're lucky enough to have experienced the feeling as well.
I wasn't born in Louisiana and I have never lived there. My dad's family is from Houma, but has since moved away. Unfortunately when I tried to transfer to LSU from KU, they had no funding for out of state scholarships. I was denied in-state tuition and was unable to afford the OOS cost for my final two years. That said, going to LSU football games in the fall is a culmination of the pride and passion I have for the great state and great people of Louisiana. I call it my home although it never has been.
Every time I go it's never long enough and I can't wait until I get the chance to do it again.

Very nice. A continuation of Dan Borne's poem and thread on Death Valley.

Nothing like a Sat. night in Tiger Stadium! Having had season tickets for years & now living in North Bama, really sucks, but I still wear my LSU gear every day but Sun. I am greatly out numbered, but I can easily hold my own like all good Koon-arse!

the buzz on campus the friday before a big game is awesome
It was a very rare occurence for me to be on campus on a Friday. Not a badass in any way, just a fact.

More about the fellowship for me. I love the tailgating crew I am with more than my family.
