True. Claremont and Cockrum wanted to write Wolverine out of the book because they thought he was a one note punk.Thankfully John Byrne came along and gave Wolverine the exposure that Cockrum had been giving to Nightcrawler. Otherwise Frank Miller would never had signed on for the mini and Wolverine would have never reached the popularity he received after.
