Charles, a lot has changed since then, and even earlier. When I was a boy in the 1960's it was considered disgraceful to attract attention to yourself instead of crediting the team. It was also frowned upon to taunt an opponent. Those days are gone. Even in the 80's, when you were playing, it had changed a lot. People were doing touchdown dances and trash talking. This worked its way to the HS level and even into pee-wee. This culture is damaging to the individual and, I believe, results in unhappiness. But still most of the kids playing are excellent young men. That hasn't changed, so here's to 'em.

I also saw this change through the years, but the problem is, with all the media build up of today, even the most model student athlete is at risk to be polluted..
