Sadly the overwhelming majority of talent at a place like Karr never comes close to its potential

If you want to make the obvious point that Curtis is better at developing their kids to reach their potential then yay for you. If you want to try to understand the point that Karr has an abundance of kids that are off the charts physically but don't necessarily take care of themselves, their school work, etc

The outstanding kids at Curtis get every bit of attention they need to develop into the best they can be. Some of the best talent at Karr may never get eligible or may only be eligible for a portion of their HS career. One thing Juluke did was get those kids in the program and develop them to a point to rival even Curtis in recruiting circles. They have been there in cycles but they didn't always see the field or stay there.

I'd agree with most of that.

However, it also goes a bit to why I mention Curtis & Evangel and not Karr. Consistent developed talent is better than raw POTENTIAL. Will Karr be the most talented team in the state next year? Probably. Would they beat Curtis? Possibly. Were they the most talented team this season? Now that's not so cut and dry.

Will Karr still be competing with Curtis & Evangel 5 years from now? 10 years from now? 15? That remains to be seen, and like I said if I were to bet on it I'd bet Curtis & Evangel are still playing at this high a level years from now than I would bet Karr will be.

Plenty of talented programs in the New Orleans area have cycled up and down and were just 1 bad hire from the downward spiral. Hell look at Destrehan they went from 2 strait 5A titles to terrible because of a bad hire. You think their talent just disappeared? Karr is replacing Juluke. The new coach looks like a good hire, but it hasn't been proven yet if he'll be able to sustain what Karr's built.

It's mainly a discipline issue at Karr. I've seen kids piss away their athletic careers at Karr because they were mostly interested in smoking and partying rather than working hard. Kids who were surefire locks to be major division one athletes are graduating with minor scholarships to small schools if even that because of laziness.
