The fact that he first lied, later snitched and then had to pay off the family tells me all I need to know about the man and what he got away with.

What does it say about the prosecutors if they offered him a deal? Could it be that he, you know, didn't kill anyone or that they didn't have any evidence against him.

As for "paying" off the family, that should tell you it was a lot cheaper than going thru a trial. Good chance he was only sued because he is famous and has deep pockets.

he's supposedly a role model?

according to who? Why should football players, regardless of past associations be considered role models? He's a good football player, that's it as far as i'm concerned.

Oh ok. So they had no evidence against him, nothing that could link him to the crime so they offer him a deal? Yep, that's exactly how our legal system works.

People don't just get your money if you have deep pockets. There was clearly cause. Nobody pays 13M unless they have something to hide.

Monitor ESPN closely for the next 2 weeks and you'll have your answer. Count the number of times the word 'role model', 'legend' and 'heroic' are used. Ray Lewis is portrayed as a role model for defensive players. Have you heard his sermons lately? They are pretty well televised.
