Not sure but why would that matter on the TV? Might as well get 1080p so it can be used for other things. Plus the next gen consoles are around the corner. No way they only output to 720p

I agree. There is not much reason to get 720 now but a few years ago when everyone was getting 1080 there was truly very little content available in it. On some levels that is still the case.
