Hockey is badass, especially to watch live. Bring your son to an icegators game, or whatever hockey team is the closest I guess.
PS minor leagues can be more interesting...more fights

4 basic rules will help a newbie enjoy:
1) can't try to hurt the other guy. If you do you go to the box and feel ashamed (unless you are asham). Maybe confusing to understand the definition of "try to hurt" at first
2) can't waste time by shooting the puck all the way down the ice (icing)
3) gotta give the goalie a chance so no cherry picking (hence offsides)
4) if you try to hurt the other teams star player you are almost obliged to drop the mitts and fight the other teams enforcer.
