How does LSU's hoops talent rate in the SEC

I haven't seen all the SEC teams play, but we're all of a concensus that the conference is about as down. I'd say it's as it's been since maybe the 70's when Dale first took over.
Against that backdrop, all other factors aside...talent alone, how would you rank LSU's talent in the SEC.
My perception pre-conference watching teams struggle so against supposed cupcakes, and us adding what looked to be some decent players like Carmouche, Collins, Morgan and Coleman to the mix of Hickey and JOB3, I would have said 7-9.
I'm thinking I may have to see some of the other teams I've yet to see and re-evaluate. Because it looks all of a sudden since we hit the conference schedule our talent I either overrated or is underachieving.

Did you mistakenly post in the wrong thread?
To the OP, during the non conference schedule I was thinking that we were in 5th to 7th talent wise. After watching these first three games I'd say that we are probably in the 9th to 12th range. That being said, I still think this team will start to put some things together and play much better in the second half of the conference schedule.

I still tend to think my original 7-9 rank is probably about right, I honestly think we are just underperforming right now.
Hopefully, that will change and hopefully that will start today against one of the teams we really should beat.
Of course South Carolina was one of those teams too...especially at home.

Seems to me he answered the question.
The talent level of this team is bad.
Or perhaps more accurately, they are severely physically outclassed as a group.
This year is little more than putting the system in place for the great recruits we are getting next year.
So,
baseball season can't start soon enough.

And Auburn, in spite of being away.

I do agree our talent is at worst comparable to Auburn's which is why the second half was so disappointing. They got more out of their talent in those 20 minutes, however one choosed to look at the overall picture.

I look forward to seeing those kids play next year.
But I also want to see my team play better than they have the last 5 games this year. I think that's reasonable and I still think that is possible.
I hold out that hope.

Think we're in the 9 range, but agree we were under-performing last 2 games. But look at our game against Gators, we were more competitive than Georgia and A & M who got beat BAD by them.
So there's a little bit of optimism.

We are a underdog to a 6-10 Georgia team who is also 0-3 in the SEC.
We have 2 SEC caliber starts and one of those is playing like a scrub.
I'd say bottom 4 from a talent perspective.

For once I agree with Zealot. Word for word.

when everyone is able to play, we are probably around 7-9
but we also cant keep everyone on the court between disciplinary trouble and foul trouble

I've watched more SEC hoops today than I have all year. I don't think an SEC caliber starter in this year's SEC is the same as what it has been in some past years.
IMHO I'm still seeing us in the 7-9 range relatively speaking, with some underperforming of late.
I hope we can start performing today and beyond more on par with the relative talent that we have.

Better than Mississippi State.

Well Russian, I can't argue that the way they are playing right now that certainly looks to be the case.
My opinion is we have better players than we our performance indicates of late, at least in a relative sense to the conference as a whole.
We'll see in a couple of months.
