Valdés tells Barça he is leaving

Víctor Valdés' representatives have dropped a bombshell on Barcelona by telling the club that the goalkeeper will not be renewing his existing contract and will instead leave when it expires on 30th June 2014. A statement issued to Spanish news agency 'EFE' reads: "Victor Valdés' agents informed FC Barcelona in a meeting earlier this afternoon of the player's irrevocable decision not to extend his contract, meaning negotiations over his salary will not be entered into". Valdés will be 32 at the end of his deal. The shotstopper recently admitted that "keeping goal for Barça is tough in all senses", coming with a huge amount of pressure that he has been putting up with "for many years".
