I guess what I'm more "bothered" by is the mentality that now, winning the SEC is looked upon as a disappointment. Even though we lost the BCS championship game, we still went 13-0 and won the SEC championship in 2011. No one seems to acknowledge that fact. In fact, almost exactly one year later you would think LSU hadn't won anything in five years.

As someone who's been a fan for over 15 years now, I can remember fondly how happy we were when we won the SEC with Rohan Davey and crew. No, we didn't play in the BCS championship game. But the enthusiasm by our fan base was as if we had, when we beat Illinois in the Sugar Bowl.

NO TEAM can win the BCS championship every year. Bama has won 3 of the last 4 but that will not last. College football is cyclical. Ask Miami, or Nebraska. We have a much better chance of winning the SEC than the BCS. Seems like, even though we'd like to win the BCS every year, we'd appreciate winning the SEC more than we seem to these days.

Which is a great example of the OPs point. How do feel satisfied that LSU "won" the SEC championship, when the #1 team in the nation was from the SEC, had the same number of losses as you, and beat you far worse in your backyard than you did in their front yard?

Bama was the best team in the SEC in '11. There is no argument about that. Claiming the SEC is just a moral victory
