They attempted to restock some here and all died of heart worms
There were some scattered reports into the early 80s but this was also the rise of the coyote invasion
And the red wolves are not much bigger than a coyote...at least not the ones I saw, which were in a cage

Usually a helluva lot larger than a yote. Not easy to tell at a distance but up close you can't confuse the two. Hybrids are a bit more difficult to distinguish. A wolf's paw is very large though.

Not always. The two I saw in Alaska were surprisingly small (and had radio collars). I think further south they are larger though.
