I've never played a string instrument before but have always wanted to learn. Mrs. Vedder gave me a Uke last year, and I've decided it is time to learn to play it. I messed around with some internet videos but, with no musical instrument background, I needed more. Started lessons with an instructor yesterday.
For those that play, can anyone recommend any fun songs for beginnings? instructor wants me to bring some in...I'm grabbing some of Ed Vedder's songs, of course, but looking for other ideas.
This is my uke; a Kala solid mahogany concert ukulele

Never played a ukulele, but as a musician, I can guarantee learning an instrument is a very fulfilling experience. And taking lessons will help you avoid bad habits and lessen the frustrations of learning something new. Good luck.

that is what i'm thinking; i grew up with several good friends that played instruments, and continue to play as a hobby into adulthood. and they seem to get a lot of enjoyment out of it.

George Formby - "Leaning On A Lamp Post"
Hermans Hermits - "Mrs. Brown you've got a lovely daughter"
Jason Robards & Barry Gordon - "Yes Sir, That's My Baby"

"Somewhere over the Rainbow" - Israel "IZ" Kamakawiwo?ole . I bit advanced for a beginner, but something to aim for...

Not me, but Ben Matlock used to strum a mean ukulele back in the day.
