Ive shot several deer with a 30-30 they have all fell in their tracks. Def the ammo and not the gun.

ETA: Damn fine deer btw.

I like the Marlin .30-.30. I kinda wish I had the .308 now. I agree that it is most likely the bullets. It's ironic becuase the Hornady bullets are the more expensive bullet as compared to the Win. or Rem. Thanks for the advice. I dont like shooting a bullet that won't exit.

Thanks, he was young only 3.5 years. Would have been a dam good deer in a few years, but shot him on the property line. Wasn't even a shooter at our camp (missed main beam by .5 inchs).
