Danny Sheridan posted his title odds for next season as follows:

Ala 5:1, Oregon 8:1, LSU & Ohio St 10:1, TxA&M & Fla & FSU 15:1; ND 20:1; Louisville & Clemson & Oklahoma 25:1

He's very knowledgeable but I'm surprised he has us this high. He sent a tweet to me and said that although the players leaving early takes a hit on LSU, we still have alot of talent.

Oregon should be at least 12:1, A&M at 10:1, I'd put LSU at 15:1

I'd be surprised if Bama can repeat again. Maintaining that intensity is going to be hard after two straight. Of course the schedule is favorable.

Keep in mind the way these odds work. If you see odds that are too pessimistic, you can make money off the house. If you see odds that are too optimistic, then you can't really do anything about it.

Thus, generally speaking the house has an incentive to make overly optimistic odds. This is especially true early on when there is a lot of publicly available information out there that the oddsmaker hasn't had time to really process and "do his homework" on. Once all the preseason articles and depth charts and rankings come out, expect the odds to move in the direction of LSU having a slimmer shot at a 2013 BCS national title (which is not a 2014 title, by the way, even though the title game will be played in January 2014).

wait a minute, this guy, and Vegas oddsmakers, know more about the state of LSU football than the ranters??! The ranter say the program is in decline, the sky is falling, woe is me.
