If you think about it, the President really did jack shite saving the world. He needed Cousin Eddie to take the ship out on Earth.
So what did he do other than give an average speech and select a shithead VP that kept him in the dark concerning really f-ing important info?

Whitemore's speech at the end of the movie redeems any poor decisions he made as president. I figured I would buy into the philosophy of democrats that voted for Obama.
