I played a little bit of it but the battle system was a dealbreaker for me. If I'm going to pick up a JRPG I want the standard turn-based style. That's what I grew up with and what I like. Unfortunately that's a dying style, or so it seems.
I'm not saying it's a bad game, I know plenty of people who love it, but it's just not for me.

Not the case at all. These sort of comments aren't even ironic or funny considering how the development teams are in Square. The director of the KH team has been with Square since FFVII as character designer.
He presided over each KH game.
