Offense v Recrutiing

Did anybody not realize that LSU recruits top 12 classes? and has a low ranked offense?
Good didn't think so, so thanks CptTiger for your illustration, but we all knew this.
So is Les getting less with more in terms of the players aren't progressing?
We know the offense is not producing as it potentially can, BUT is that because 8/11 of the players aren't developing??
Or is it because 3/11 aren't consistent?

Les plays a more conservative offense. Look at wins vs recruiting. The problem is that he is not winning the critical games of late.
Fans wouldnt care if we were last in offense if we were 14-0 every year. Obviously we are not and so, yes, the offense is where I would start to look too. But dont just make the comparison of recruits vs offense. Look at wins.
One of the most telling stats this year was the first week NCAA rushing and passing stats. In the first week the top 29 teams in the NCAA in rushing all won (LSU was #11 I think). The top 4 passing teams all lost and in the top thirty there was no pattern to winning by passing for high yards.

What is the rank of the offensive recruits we get?
I had a discussion with CptTiger on his thread about this. Anthony Johnson, Craig Loston, Sonic Sam, Reid, Simon, Mickey Johnson, Rasco, etc. are all inflating the recruiting rank.
Lastly, total yards will always be lower at run-based offenses versus spread-type offenses and the spread is being used at over 50% of schools in FBS, so it stands to reason that at best teams like Stanford, LSU, K-State have a much lower ceiling for "total offense" than a team like aTm, Oregon, WVU, etc.

I think you are hitting the nail on the head here. There are games where we have a coaching gaffe (OM in 09), but there were games this year where players just didn't make the play or made a bad play. Personal fouls, bad fumbles, dropped passes, blown assignments, etc. Alot of that comes from inexperience or lack of focus. I think we are still in really good shape going into next year, even with all the new faces on the field.
