Exactly. It wasnt discussed in greater detail because the story was told through a narrators perspective and the narrator didnt think it was anything special.

My problem was that the story was told through young joes perspective and he knew that the rainmaker needed to be stopped yet the viewer was never given any details as to why he must be stopped.

They tell you why Old Joe wants him to be stopped, which Young Joe is aware of.

What they don't tell you is why Young Joe should give a shite.
