Once young Joe became substantially different than Old Joe, the Old Jo we see should have ceased to exist. Young Joe could never become the Old Joe we know from the film, so Old Joe should have changed along with young Joe, or old Joe shouldn't have died when young Joe killed himself.
The movie tries to have it both ways and it doesn't make sense. Just because the film reaches a conclusion doesn't mean they did it without faulty logic.

it makes sense just fine.
It's a movie that uses multiple theories of time travel. It's not a time travel movie. It's a movie about characters.
Again, it uses multiverse when it fits the narrative and it uses single universe when it fits.
If you're thinking this much about it, you're doing it wrong and completely missing the point of the movie
