I'll spot you the horrible job during the BCSCG last year, but he was not outcoached or schooled last night. Mett overthrew Boone on a bomb when he was wide open, overthrew Landry on the infamous 2nd and 2 play, and the OL was completely whipped in the 1st Quarter. You guys want to keep talking about how bad the offense was, but it was the defense that once again couldn't get off the field. This was especially true in the 4th Quarter.

Quarterbacks are not perfect, and sometimes make bad throws. Especially first year quarterbacks who spend the whole game eating sacks and feeling pressure. If your plan to win a game depends on your quarterback never missing a pass then you need a better plan.

The O-Line had a lot of problems, which is why the solution is to change the play-calling to more shotgun, more 1 step drops, more screens, more runs inside the crashing DE that make him pay for being too aggressive in coming around. You put the TE on the right and have him chip, you keep the RB back and have him chip. You change your scheme, you don't just keep calling the same stupid fricking plays that get your QB eaten alive.

And the defense held one of the top offenses in the FBS to 13 points over 3 quarters. They spent 12 of the 15 minutes in the 4th quarter on the field. They played more than 100 snaps, twice what they would see in a normal game. They were fricking tired, and they were fricking tired because whenever they DID get Clemson off the field the offense let Clemson right back on about a minute later.

Yeah, right after our Offense had dominated the 3rd Quarter. Then Clemson started sustaining long drives where our Defense couldn't stop them. Hell, on the last drive we had them in 4th and 16! I think that during pregame you tell a coach, "hey, we can just jump straight to about 1 minute to go with the other team facing 4th and 16 with you up 2 pts, if you want to take that risk" any coach would take that risk. We had them wobbling on the ropes and let them land a counter punch right on the chin. They then landed a haymaker with the FG. If the defense holds on that 4th down, we aren't having these conversations today.
