A Mossberg Maverick 88 12G shotgun.
Any of you have some opinions on this shotgun?

Decent inexpensive home defense shotgun. I have one that I put a pistol grip and telescoping stock on. Love it.

Ok just wondering.
I am really looking for something that I can keep in the house and if she has to something the wifey can fire and have to be as accurate as a pistol.

I have $1500 benellis
And $300 mossbergs
And for the price there is absolutely nothing wrong with the mossberg. I have a mossberg ultimag 835 that is a great shotgun, holds very good pattern.. And i have never had an issue with it and it has thousands of rounds through it. Just kicks like a mule! nothing wrong with a good mossberg!

I wouldn't buy less than what I think is upper tier with anything muchless something I would bet my life on.
I actually bought a glock pistol knowing there are some that DO feel better in my hand but I KNOW that glock will go bang.

Well maybe I won't tell her that before I take her to the range the first time with it.

Use 2 3/4 shells at the range

Thats key info. Nothing like people on a message board telling you whats good and not with no idea or ever having one

I've only owned mossberg shotguns. Never had one problem. My first one, had it for 20 yrs, I've put it through hell. It's killed many a deer.

I shot an 835 for years... it was my first 3.5 inch 12 gauge.
Never had a problem.
My buddy had the same one that the safety would get stuck on, but other than that it was fine. Luckily, it would stick in the "unsafe" position.

I got a maverick on sale not too long ago. It ain't pretty, but I haven't had a single problem with it. I've only put around a 100 shells through it though. For the money, it's not bad at all though.
