The thing that bothers me most about this issue is that, at best, the SEC is tone deaf to it. At worst, they play favorites knowingly.
This issue is NOT new.
If Slive et al cared about the favoritism issue, it would bend over backwards to avoid all APPEARANCES of bias. The scheduling gift to the home town team would have been rejected for that reason alone.
However, the conference can play favorites AND prosper, because it makes so much money no one is prepared to make them address the dirty laundry.
Plus, Ala. is not the only team that benefits, so LSU has trouble getting the votes to reform the Birmingham Biases.
