We have a draft talk thread but it's been lost in the gameday deluge.

Anyway, I think we need to go BPA-DE/DL with our first pick. The secondary is not quite as bad as they look.. the front 7 needs to get more pressure for them to play to their potential. We need a good end opposite Cam Jordan (Will Smith sucks), and we could use a DT to compliment Hicks.

We could also use an OLB, but that comes second to DE/DT. A lot of people are arguing that we should maybe target an OT in the first round as well because the protection has not been good this year without Carl Nicks.

Expect the positions that we draft to be a mix of DE/DT/OT with maaaaaybe a safety.

I agree that Smith is no longer the answer at rush end particularly in light of his salary. The technique of our corners is really poor. Personally, I do not agree with the get inside your opponents shirt and focus on his hands, chest, whatever.but that is what is taught in the NFL. That aside you need to get your head around and look for the ball to make any type of play on it.

I like Hicks and Bunkley in the middle. There are some good FA ends available. Most notably Johnson and Avril. We can also draft a DE. I'd rather go OLB in the draft though since there aren't many FA LBers.

I don't think Nicks is the missing link. The interior has been good besides the first few games. I'm ok with Brown taking over at OT. He looked ok. There are also some OT in FA this year too. Where to spend the money is the issue.
