Yesterday I picked up a bottle of EH Taylor Single Barrel. I poured up a glass of that and a glass of the EHT Small Batch to compare.

I know this board seems to favor the small batch but I honestly liked the Single Barrel a little better. It seemed just a touchy more silky on the palate and had a bit more depth to it. I certainly enjoyed the Single Barrel, but I'm also not sure it's worth the extra $20 a bottle when it can be found.

Anyone else try these two right next to each other?

One other odd thing recently, I really enjoy ETL. Lately I don't seem to be getting the usual sweet flavor that I'm used to. For some reason, I've been tasting more of the rye in it lately. Anyone else ever notice this with old standbys that they come back to?

Yep a few of us have and all agree the single barrle is better. Unk didn't want to like it better than the cheaper alternative but he couldn't resist. I still drink both...just depends what I'm buying that day.

I think the EHT lineup is about as solid as it gets for easy to find resonantly priced variations. Good for someone looking to branch out. As you have seen the difference between a small batch and single barrle. There rye is a very palatable rye for someone who wants to try a rye. And there barrle proof is top notch.
