DLC Thoughts after about 20 rounds.
Was on-call for the last week, so had yesterday and today off. Figured you all might enjoy a quick write up on the DLC to fuel your hunger for this evening. Sorry, for any spelling or grammar mish@pz Lew. <3

PEACEKEEPER
or as Wikel was calling it this morning "The PaceMaker". sigh. Go ahead and expect that 90% of the lobby will be running the PeaceKeeper, minus that one quickscoping douche.
Damage. The damage is surprising low. 4-6 shots to kill. But wait. It is a very longe range SMG. It has the highest range potential of SMG's and many AR's. Silencer drops this by about 30%. Rate of Fire. 700RPM. Slowest SMG. but barely. close to the PDW and MSMC. Recoil. Very low. Mostly vertical. The ADS speed is right where you would expect it, between the SMG's and AR's. Magazine count is low 30, extended 40. The Hip Fire isn't as bad as I would think, the low close-range Damage doesn't hurt you a bit, but it is very accurate.
Attachments. Select Fire doesn't increase the RPM or Range at all. It's beastly on burst fire. Think long range Chicom. Silencer drops the range, but seems to smooth out the recoil and fire rate. Rapid Fire makes the 900RPM, close to the Vector or MP7, but the recoil jumps up. of course. Rapid Fire causes a huge drop in Range tho. You'll be reloading alot I'd suggest Fast Mags or Extended Mags.

Overall, the PeaceKeeper is a monster. But don't equip it thinking of using it as an SMG, it is an AR with great mobiltiy. And yup. Sorry Sweat, you're headshots only lobby won't get you to diamond camo first. I've already seen 3 players with Diamonds on the PeaceKeeper.

NEW MAPS.
Overall, I'm very impressed and pleased with the new multiplayer maps. But hell, who isn't exhausted from playing Hijacked, Slums, Standoff, and Raid 90% of the time. It's hard to gauge how objectives will play on these maps at the moment because everyone is new to the maps and generally it's just a lot of flanking and spawn flipping.

HYDRO.
As seen on the preview vids. Waterworks on the middle. There's beeping and flashing lights which gives you about 3 seconds to GTFO or the water rushes in to kill you instantly. It is multi-leveled so you'll need to pay attention to the mini-map at all times. The middle is fairly open, but open in the TreyArch way. There are sewers underneath with tight hallways used to flank. No long sight lines from spawn to spawn or the objectives. As with most of the maps on BLOPS 2 there are two "towers" facing each other on the opposite sides of the middle of the map. Plenty of traffic there and in the flanking sewers. There is also an overlook in the middle of the map, set up high, but you are wide open and of course there are 3 possible routes to this position. Spawns seem to be fair.

DOWNHILL
The new snow map! It's a medium-large map. Very open middle where I would imagine objectives will be placed. Flank routes on the edges. But plenty of long lines of sight. Mountain passage ways on one side and Ski Lodge on the other. As seen on the preview vids, Gondalas (sp) are constantly moving in and out from the ski lodge. And yes, yes they will frick you up if you aren't paying attention. Insta-Kill. I was killed twice in one round by the damn things. Anti, would go on a streak, then "AntiHeroaz: Mistakes Were Made" lol. . But sadly no, you can't get inside the gondalas. Seems like with a good squad you will be able to lock this map down tight. There aren't quite as many flank routes, doorways, windows, underground tunnels.

MIRAGE
Not sure how I feel about this one yet. Interesting. Certainly a different look and feel to the standard COD map layout and feel. What I mean by that is not only the aesthetics., but in how the sand creates awkward height levels all across the map. It's a small to medium map, with a few sight lines on one side. Layout. Basically you've got a large building with multiple levels in the middle. On one side it's long corrodor straight from one spawn to the other, but is cluttered with vehicles and such. The other side of the map, the pool aread, is typically where the action takes place. More open with perches on each end. The middle of the map, the large building is fairly quiet. Warning, objective placement is a bitch on this map, DOM and DEMO. Generally players are working the flanks or battling out for control of the pool area.

GRIND.
Meet the new Hijacked\Nuketown map of BLOPS2.
If it is in the map selection up for vote, you will be playing Grind. Which isn't a bad thing. It's a beautiful map and very different than any COD map we've played to date with not only aesthetics, but how you are able to scale walls and move around the map. Curved edges and ramps everywhere. Quick Note, use and RC car as a scorestreak, it's a blast. Very very fast paced map, objectives or not. Very few places to camp on this map. Few head glitch spots here or there, but this map is based on reaction speeds. Layout. Large building in the middle, within the building there is a small open area, but know that there are windows on both sides where someone is more than likely hardscoping. The edges of the map are fairly open flank routes with curved walls keeping you from setting up and camping for long. The only real lines of sight are the windows in the middle overlooking the open room. No worries, for those window campers those positions are plaqued with flank routes from both directions.

[Final thoughts. Yes, the DLC is certainly worth the $15. You can tell TreyArch really put some thought and effort into this DLC. Each map brings a fresh aspect to the way we see COD maps and the PeaceKeeper is a beast.
