I can't name a single song by the Deftones. I've heard of them, but can't place them at all.

If dredg decides to start touring again, that would be awesome.
I doubt Chino's voice could handle it, but Team Sleep would be sick.

Chevelle covering Be Quiet and Drive

Sounds a lot like Send the Pain Below.

This is their best-known song.

It's obvious that Chevelle got a lot of influence from the Deftones, but I think that song is unique enough to not be a ripoff of Be Quiet and Drive. The intro riff is the only thing remotely close.

Listen, Doc. Don't get bent out of shape. I used to be a HUGE fan of the Deftones. I simply prefer the harder version of Deftones to the toned down version. I prefer them when they're bringing an insane amount of energy to their music.
Without a doubt their most hardcore album was Adrenaline. In my opinion, they haven't topped that album. Are the rest of their albums good? Sure. But Adrenaline set the bar high and I haven't heard anything better from them since then.
But don't fret. I'm a huge Tool fan and have been since 1992. However, I'm one of the few Tool fans who believe that their music is getting better as time progresses. That's not a popular opinion.

Tool was doing fine until 10,000 Days. That may be the most boring, self-indulgent album of the last decade. Thom Yorke makes his own arguments, though.

I thought the same thing at first. I didn't listen to 10,000 Days for a few months and then I revisited it again.
Tool's best song is "Rosetta Stoned". Nothing comes close to it. It's their pinnacle. 10,000 Days is worth it just for that song. "Rosetta Stoned" blows away everything they've done before.
Period.

I really like Rosetta Stoned, Jambi, and The Pot. Other than that, though, I think the rest of the album is extremely pedestrian. The whole Wings for Marie thing is just gimmicky as hell and resulted in 2 extremely boring tracks.

I agree. But I have to think like this...we wouldn't have Rosetta Stoned if it weren't for the 10,000 Days album.
It might not be Tool's greatest album as a whole, but it contains their best work to date.
Therein lies the paradox.
