Big Boi - One Half Outkast...Super Badass New Album!

Okay, I'm a music snob. One of my all time favorite albums of any genre is Outkast's ATLiens. Timeless. Magical.
I miss Big Boi and Andre 3k rappin together. They need to reunite somewhere in the Egyptian desert sands not far from Mokattam Hills, smoke a fatty, and put pen to paper.
However, Big Boi just dropped a new solo album. I was very hesitant to even listen to it. But an ethereal voice summoned me.
Blown away! Big Boi far exceeded my expectations. Especially considering I've hated rap for about a decade and I've been on a very hipster electronic pop binge lately.
He found a way to collaborate with electronic masters Phantogram and Little Dragon. Listen to this killer song:
Big Boi - Lines
If you like it, check out the rest of his album. Very Outkast-ish but with a sonic electronic dreamscape sound. Very un-rap. Very cool.

The only thing I liked about this were the Little Dragon features. This album was trash, imo. I'll still wait for new Andre music before bragging about Big Boi... that's just me

"Shoes for running" w/ wavves and B.O.B. is my favorite so far

Big Boi is making killer good rap in a rap scene that has been a dumpster fire for about 12 years.
Andre, on the other hand, is doing a Gillette commercial. He's not coming out with anything new. The next we hear from him will be during an Outkast reunion when he blows thru his money and realizes that he needs to make a few quick millions.
Big Boi's doin it. Andre's losing it.

I have been listening to it also and I can agree, it's very different from anything they've put out. I can tell some of these songs will become timeless hits.
It's interesting to see how his father passing away affected his music. He did some nice heartbroken tributes to him.

This ^^^^
If you don't like Outkast, you'll probably hate this album. But if you're an Outkast fan, this album should make you jizzy.
His collaborations with Phantogram are awesome.

Um, what? Just because you quit giving it a chance doesn't mean the 'rap scene' is garbage. There's been some AMAZING rap albums put out in recent years.

Andre has lost very little. He's had some of the best rap verses of the year.

Andre is still doing it and still doing it well. His songs and features arent very radio friendly so you hardly hear them but his verses are still top notch

The new Big Boi album is really really good.
He took some serious risks and it seems like they worked.

Loved the album. Posted about it when it leaked last week.

Big Boi's new album blows anything rap related out of the water. Over the course of the past 5 years I'd say nothing comes close...
with exception to Sene.

It's not even the best album of 2012. Good Kid/M.A.A.D city and Live From the Underground >>> Viscous lies and Dangerous Rumors.

Truth! His verse on Frank Ocean's "Pink Matter" floors me.

This is the most hilarious comment in this thread! I guess if your Junior High and High School years took place at the start of the millenium, then you wouldn't know any better.
Therefore (if this is the case), I'll give you a pass on this comment.
Rap has sucked since the end of the 90s.
