Sumlin and Kingsbury have been quoted as saying they didn't offer Manziel because they saw offers from Oregon and A&M and knew he would not choose Houston.

Kingsbury is a very risky hire for their AD. If Kingsbury fails as a HC, the AD is assuredly gone. With such a short track record and the question of Kingsbury being the Krby Smart to Sumlin's Nick Saban, the risks might outweigh the rewards with Kingsbury.

Tech also has interviewed the DC for the Titans who reached out to them. I would not be shocked if it were his job to lose.

Risky to hire Kingsbury. Risky not to hire him.

Texas Tech fans think Kingsbury is the next Nick Saban. The TT "Guns Up" thingy might take on a whole new meaning if the AD passes up Kingsbury in favor a defensive coach. The AD might want to keep his family away from open windows for a while.
