I don't know about Amir but I do know Dirk likes to bounce the ball hard once or twice on the ground after FTs he isn't shooting. Refs never bother him about it.
I don't see why the ref felt the need to stop Amir from touching the ball for two seconds during a dead ball.

Johnson tried to rip the ball out of the refs hands, not just touch the ball.
