Since Pac v Floyd Will Never Happen...

Or if it does, the luster will be gone, is boxing officially on its death walk?
I cannot imagine it returning to prominence as it once held even as recently as the 1990s. Pac and Floyd are the last true international stars that could meet in a super fight.
What say you?

I say I would pay $60 to watch Mayweather fight Sergio Martinez.

Boxing is still a big deal in the Hispanic community and IMO that will never change. It's still very popular in Europe also. Only decline is American talent, specificly HWs.

I agree. I watched Marquez-Pacquiao 4 with a Mexican friend of mine and the passion he and his friends have for the sport gave me a ray of hope. They went apeshit when Marquez won.

Boxing just needs leadership, imo. It's a huge cluster-frick. I acknowledge that the heavyweight division is pure shite, and I'm not sure when it will be good again. But there are a lot of really good fighters in the lighter divisions. With some actual structure and better marketing it could recover.
FWIW, I've seen both MMA and Boxing live, and boxing is way better. MMA is 75% homoerotic grappling, which just isn't exciting at all when viewed in person.

They're already calling this one of the best fights of all time.

Freddy Roach is already talking about a fifth fight. I think Manny may need to call it quits. He actually has a future outside of boxing. I'd hate to see him waste it and end up like most of the other big names who have been mentioned today in all of these boxing threads. Camacho, Gatti, Duran... Dead. Most of the others names broke.

Freddie did want this fourth fight. He felt Pac couldn't win because he HAD to KO Marquez. I heard him multiple times say he feared this fight more than any due to having to prove something that he shouldn't.

I didn't want to see it either for Pacmans sake. Like you said, he had nothing to prove.

I've been to close to a hundred boxing shows over the years and at least a dozen MMA shows, boxing and its atmosphere wins every time. Boxing fans actually know boxing, unlike the Affliction Tee wearing douchbags who pay to see MMA fights. Much of morons who don't know shite about the sport. But the fighters are more than willing to take their money at be gate regardless.

There are douchebag fans who watch every sport.
If you pick randomly any boxing card/event & any mma/UFC event, I'm picking a UFC event 100% of the time. 99% of all boxing cards are boring & turrible. Sure, the 2 or so big name boxing events every year are hyped/exciting, but how many people can afford to go to PBF's 1 fight of the year?

youre also a huge mma fan. why are yall even arguing this?

I also grew up a huge boxing fan & still enjoy the sport. It's not really an argument either. Boxing cards/events suck.....there has never been a great undercard, or a boxing event with a bunch of huge names/exciting fights on 1 main card. You go to a boxing event for 1 fight only

Marquez vs Pacquiao V could be just as big as Mayweather vs Pacquiao could of been

The comment about the affliction tees is unquestionably true. But even if that wasn't the case, boxing would still be a way better product for live viewing. There is nothing exciting about watching a guy try for five minutes to move from side mount to full mount.

This is silly. If you didn't know the guys fighting the undercard fights on Saturday, then you don't follow boxing.

I love this. Two guys are making a damn good argument, and yet it isn't an argument. Sure guy.

So you're saying the undercard was exciting? The whole card was good?

Bingo. And I can't stand watching MMA guys throw 3 punch combos and then going to the mat and grappling. Yes I know grappling is an art and is difficult, but it makes a fight so boring. I'd rather watch 2 shitty boxers on an undercard get into a sloppy brawl. Pretty, no. Exciting, yes.
