And just so you don't say "TL;DR" I'll reiterate the most important part of that post:

The gun WILL CHOOSE YOU, not vice versa. Go to a store and hold them and buy what is most comfortable, even if it's some shitty Glock.

Comfort is paramount when buying a handgun. It would suck if your family depended on it and you couldn't hit the broad side of a barn.

Go to a store and hold them. This will also dictate if you get a full sized revolver, compact revolver, subcompact revolver, full sized semi auto, compact semi auto, or subcompact semi auto. Choose wisely.

The problem I have with Glocks is that every one of them seems to shoot thousands and thousands of rounds without cleaning or malfunctioning.

A 1911 on the other hand is worse than a high maintenance wife that doesn't put out when you want her to... if she doesn't get: the fanciest accessories, loved on constantly, tons of encouragement from gunsmiths, lubricants, special magazines, even more special ammo, even more special feed ramps polished and buffed....it may or may not shoot a full mag before hanging up. Even with the aforementioned accessories...it will still hang up. Love me some 1911.

Did I miss anything in particular about the 42oz wonder called the 1911?
