not enough to offset the difference in specific heat
density of ice = ~.92 g/cm3
density of soapstone = ~3 g/cm3

soapstone is much denser than water(thus ice) and is within the system vs cooling the air. And soap stone doesn't dilute my JW Blue...
As already mentioned, soapstone is 3 times as dense as ice, so by volume ice only has 7 times as much "cooling power." In practice I have seen people use slightly less soapstone than ice, so the typical ratio of cooling power probably nets out around 10 to 1 in favor of ice.
The other point is that 80% of the cooling power from ice comes from melting. So while the soapstones begin warming immediately, the ice method only does so at the tail end. This is a huge point.
So if you go with soapstones to avoid dilution, use at least 7 times as much as the corresponding volume of ice and don't be disappointed by immediate loss of "chill."

Seeing as you are in the woodlands, we need to test this...

Wiki, apologies for the complete thread derailment here. Maybe one of these days my brain will be able to comprehend Bitcoin. Quantum physics and how to read women's minds were never able to take root either.
