Is there a rule that the game had to be released in 2012?

***The Official 2012 Gaming Board Awards***

what's the point of doing a yearly award if you can pick a game from another year. If that's the way we are going to do it then I'm voting ocarina of time for game of the year.

You can go full retard if you want. Some games released late in 2011 might not have gotten a look before the middle of December.

My point being, just because the award votes are HELD in 2012 doesn't mean the game had to be RELEASED in 2012. Fwiw, every year I've seen them there have been games from the previous year. IJS
