Which car to sell?

Any finance / car guys here?
Are there any general rules of thumb when picking between two cars to sell? I know any situation is dynamic but in general.
I want to sell one of these so I can buy a truck.
Car 1: 2011 Taurus SHO 26k miles worth about 25k owe about 23k
Car 2: Chevy Equinox 35k miles worth about 17k owe about 16k
What do?

What year is the equinox
I have a 2010 with about that many miles that I'm planning to trade
Not quite sure what its worth yet though
Eta: I would probably keep the Taurus but I don't have much of a basis other than preference
Our equinox has given us problems and I've become a big ford fan

Sorry the Chevy is 2011 too.
Yeah I'm not really if there is a good answer. I just can't remaking decide so I'm looking for some trains of thought.
One person recommended keeping the one with the higher value to purchase ratio.

I had to google Taurus SHO to see how in the hell a Taurus was worth that much.
Definitely the Taurus, if you can get that much for it. The equinox is lame, but at least it doesn't cost 50% more than a 4 door pickup to be lame.

Sell both. Do you really need to be 40k in debt?

He does need a car...
Buy one he can afford?
Mine is 10 years old with 68,000 miles, bought it in May with 60,000 miles for $3,500. No car note is always nice.

Sounds like he can't afford much given the amount of debt and the actual value of these fairly new cars...
No car note is the best...but there is nothing wrong with taking on a loan for a car.

Exactly, but for some reason, he has bought a suped up POS for 30k.
I have a boatload of disposable income and wouldn't buy a 30k car right now. I have no idea why people put themselves in a load of debt over cars.

My personal vehicle is a 2000 Tahoe. It needs to go in for a fuel pump and injectors...or be traded off on a 535xi. I just can't drag myself into writing that check.

Agreed. I would love to drive a nice new car, but the idea of debt and a car note quickly curbs that urge. And, my car right now is great and I barely drive it since I am rarely in town.
