Evangel was bumped down because Ruston couldn't beat them, not WM. Ruston was in their district. Another theory of the big schools was it wasn't right for Evangel to play in front of larger crowds, bring 500 people, and split the profits. They thought if they forced them down they would bankrupt them.

Obviously they were wrong, but Evangel is indeed weaker than before. Personally I'd prefer to let everyone play up. Use the multiplier for private schools like every other state. Those were some great games between WM and Evangel. Both teams blew each other out once and the rest of the games were determined by 1-7 points.

i remember the principal of Ruston had his panties in a wad for years about Evangel.
